One of the sure signs that Spring is coming is the start of the annual Glasgow Film Festival which starts today (Wednesday 25th February ) and runs to Sunday 8th March. Celebrating it's 22nd year (and with a new Head of Programme in Paul Gallagher) it promises to showcase 126 films from 44 countries, with 16 World, European, and International premieres, 68 UK premieres and 18 Scottish premieres.
It’s the festival for the more discerning film fan, with something for everyone, including the pick of the best new releases, old favourites, horror, indie, films from home, and around the world, & a whole lot more.
Once again the majority of the action will be at the festival's spiritual home of the Glasgow Film Theatre (although not all, so be sure to double check).
2026’s programme has so much to recommend it we couldn’t possibly do anything other than offer some considered recommendations, but you can find the full programme here.
In the meantime, here the SWH! pick of 10 films not to miss at this year's GFF (click on the highlighted titles for full info and to get tickets):

Loved your preview of the Glasgow Film Festival 2026! The highlights you mentioned sound so exciting. It'd be awesome to see a panel on how films like Slope Rider influence indie cinema trends!
