As is traditional, the first of our Best of 2024 podcasts is all about books, when once again Ali is joined by Publishing Scotland's Vikki Reilly to talk about the standouts of the year, and to give a heads up as to what's coming in 2025.

The two talk fantastic fiction, non-fiction, plenty of prose, and even a little poetry. There's food, drink, crime, comedy, coming-of-age, drama, history, sci-fi, and so much more, and we're certain you'll hear about something you'd like to investigate yourself.

Always a SWH! highlight of the year, the aim of this podcast is to reflect, and celebrate, another exceptional 12 months in Scottish writing. It may be our longest podcast of the year, but it's also one of the best...

And don’t forget to check out the Books from Scotland website for more of the best of Scottish books.

If you aren’t yet a subscriber to the Scots Whay Hae! podcast you can do so, (or simply listen) at iTunes, on Podbean, with Spotify, on MixCloud, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Looking back at the best podcasts and books of 2024 is a great way to discover content that may have been missed during the year. I think these kinds of roundups are useful because they highlight different perspectives, ideas, and stories in one place. My recommendation is to explore a mix of genres rather than sticking to familiar topics. As a student, I enjoy finding new learning resources, and I have come across discussions about Java Assignment Help in UK while researching ways to strengthen my programming knowledge and study habits.

This post really captures that reflective feeling at the end of the year, looking back at books and podcasts that shaped 2024. I liked how it reminds us that stories and conversations can stay with us long after we finish them. When I was preparing for my final exams, I used to take short breaks and read Kathy Houchins stories because simple storytelling helped me reset my mind before studying again. Moments like these show how much calm reading can balance a busy life.

2024 felt like a strong year for podcasts and books, especially those that blended storytelling with real-world issues. I personally enjoyed how many shows moved beyond entertainment and became more reflective, almost like long-form journalism. It also got me thinking about how regional media scenes contribute to publishing trends. For example, even smaller ecosystems like publishers in houston tx play a role in shaping diverse voices. Overall, it was a balanced year for content discovery and learning.

If you’re looking for something lightweight but still fun, Block Breaker game is a solid choice. It reminds me of the classic brick breaker games but with a more modern feel.

Appreciating your thoughtful recap of great books and podcasts this year, I couldn’t help but think about how much effort goes into writing and publishing especially when considering book publishing cost. It’s always eye-opening to reflect on the creative work behind the favorites we pick up. Thanks for sharing this list and reminding us of the stories that stood out in 2024!
