Scots Whay Hae’s Hogmanay Treat, 2012…


Once more Mr Scott raises a bottle to see out the old year and ring in the new and that means it’s time for Scots Whay Hae’s New Year’s Eve treat before the Bell’s, and the Bells, kick in. It’s an alternative, tiny, Hootenanny.

So here’s a bit of music, an iconic film sequence and some classic TV.

First off is this great clip of Big Star’s Alex Chilton playing with Teenage Fanclub on the late and lamented arts show Don’t Look Down.

Then, this is a clip that shows once more that Robbie Coltrane was proper leading man material. From The Supergrass, one of the few Comic Strip Presents movies, this is iconic Coltrane. Hide yourself:

And finally…In case you think this year’s Hogmanay telly pure garbage, here is the full first episode of the sitcom Mr Don and Mr George, one of Channel 4’s finer offerings, to offer you an alternative to Fred MacAulay:

Happy New Year when it comes. We’ve had a cracking 2012 round these parts, and if what’s coming up in January is any gauge, 2013 isn’t going to be too bad either…
